Eckel Road Vacation
A small stub of city right-of-way on Eckel Road, long used as the Michaels property entrance, would be vacated so the owner can maintain and upgrade it.
SR 25 and Eckel Junction intersection improvement
The city will pay $6,900 extra to have Mannik & Smith evaluate an idea to improve the rough SR 25/Eckel Junction intersection as part of the corridor study update.
Front Street speed limit fix
Front Street has shown 35 mph signs for years, but the limit was never filed with the state — legally it's 45 or 50. A resolution will make 35 official, and a corridor study may push it lower.
Pedestrian Safety at I-75 Overpass (Route 20)
A resident raised concerns again about pedestrians and cyclists crossing the Route 20 bridge over I-75. Staff will look at signage and grant options; a real fix would likely wait for an ODOT bridge replacement that isn't planned anytime soon.
ODOT grants for Louisiana Avenue resurfacing and shared-use paths
Council applied for a federal grant to resurface East Indiana Avenue and accepted two ODOT grants covering 80-90% of costs for SR-199 resurfacing and new shared-use paths and crossings on West Indiana, Fort Meigs and Hull Prairie roads. Construction bids are expected late 2026 into 2027.
Fort Meigs Road Multi-Use Path
Council accepted donated land from the schools and a title agency and dedicated park land at Rivercrest and Rotary parks so the safety-funded path along Fort Meigs Road, W. Indiana and Hull Prairie can go out to bid on schedule.
Garmin marathon traffic impacts
The Garmin Run comes through town Sunday, September 20 — expect Front Street and bridge traffic delays until about noon; churches along the route were notified in advance.
East Indiana Avenue resurfacing grant application
Council authorized applying for competitive state OPWC grant money to resurface Finley Street from Mulberry Road to Indiana Avenue.
Front Street corridor roundabouts
Residents packed citizens' comments to oppose proposed roundabouts on Front Street and East Boundary, calling them unnecessary, costly and a threat to the historic district's character. The mayor stressed it's only a safety study so far — no decision has been made — and public input is still open online.
Front Street project public comment
There's still time to weigh in on the Front Street project — scan the QR code online or on social media before the August 4 Council meeting.
Downtown construction update
Downtown work flips to the west side soon, but corners at Front Street, Second Street and the railroad tracks wait on late-arriving anchor bolts and Toledo Edison de-energizing old traffic cabinets.
Downtown Construction Phase Change
Construction starts this month downtown, but all shops stay open and the Farmers Market remains, flipping to whichever side of the street isn't torn up.
State Route 25 corridor study
The city hasn't updated its Route 25 traffic study since 2017, and lots of development is happening along that corridor. Council hired Mannik Smith Group to refresh it for up to $89,960.
